Isaac
means, “He Laughs”.
Literally,
Isaac may denote our joy and happiness when we receive something long awaited
and expected. There are times like in the case of Abraham who had lost hope of
ever getting Isaac that we might have believed that thing is not meant for us
whereas it is the promises of God for us.
Also,
our Isaac may be an oath made to God Almighty while we are passing through some
troubles in life or while we expect a great and unique result. Therefore we
looked up to God who is able to help us and we vowed a vow unto the Lord like
Jephthah. This time around, we are not even specific with the vow but we just
made the vow so that we can strengthen our faith in God – Judges 11: 30-40.
Likewise,
our Isaac might be our being –ourselves. Even though we might not find ourselves
worthy but God has qualified us in His grace so that we can become a living sacrifice
unto Him – Genesis 3:10-4:17.
No
matter the Isaac God is asking of us, it is only the work of faith that can
make us to surrender him to God. By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered
up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten
son.
Will
you be able to say YES to God if He says, “You must not work with the
certificate you have labored for” even when you have already been given a permanent
appointment?
Will
you be able to say YES to God if He says, “I want you to be a missionary in one
of the terrorized Islamic states” even when you know the havoc they are causing
everyday and how they persecute Christians every day?
Will
you be able to say YES to God if He humbles you by tarrying before placing you
in a higher position just to train you up?
Remember,
but without faith [it is] impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God
must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek
him.
Father,
renew and increase my faith in you!
